Living in Waterdown for almost 2 1/2 years, I’ve started exploring Hamilton, ON. A few weeks ago I was at Princess Point shooting black and white landscapes with the resulting photos found in my last blog post. These photos are from a one hour stroll on James St. N between Barton St and Wilson St.

James St. N is an interesting street. It is undergoing gentrification and it is the centre of Hamilton’s art community. There are numerous galleries and cafes. Written on the sidewalk was “Art is the new steel.” Hamilton is Canada’s steel producing centre, and while it remains so to this day, like other steel towns, Hamilton has had its share of steel-related economic contraction.
