I recently read a review of one of Fuji’s lenses, the XF 16mm f/1.4, that also happens to be a lens I own. There are a couple of unique feature about this lens: firstly, is the very large aperture wide open — f/1.4 combined with the very wide angle which is equivalent to a 24mm “full-frame” (Fujifilm’s X-series cameras are APS-C sized.) And secondly, the lens has unusually close focus ability.
On today’s walk with the dog, I brought the Fujifilm X-Pro2 with me and the 16mm lens and shot it wide open to get both a wider background to place the subject in a broader context, yet have narrow depth-of-field so that the subject stands out from the background.
