The most popular lens used to photograph sports is probably the 70-200 f2.8 zoom as are high shutter speeds and high ISOs. To create this photo, I used a 16-55mm (or 24-70mm full frame equivalent), a slow shutter speed, and panning to create motion blur to capture the speed and convey a sense a movement.
