This was taken some time ago as the images I shot today were on film and I haven’t developed or even finished the roll yet. This image was also on 35mm film and taken with my Leica M6.

I created this photo 31 floors from the north across the street from the back of the historic Royal York Hotel. When the hotel opened in 1929 it was the tallest building in the British Empire and when the Queen visits Toronto, this is the hotel in which she stays. Before the massive condo building boom in the city, one had an unobstructed view of the lake. But as of late, the lake view has for the most part, or maybe entirely been blocked, the hotel itself lost among the tall office towers and residential condos in the city.

The Toronto skyline looking toward Lake Ontario, the back of the Royal York Hotel in the foreground. A lot of condo development has taken place in the last 10 years and while I have verified it to be sure, I believe that the Royal York’s view of the lake is now blocked.
